There’s something about Mother’s Day on Cape Cod that feels especially meaningful. The light shifts. The air softens. And the landscape begins to stir back to life.

This year, that sense of renewal takes center stage at a truly special event.

Cape Cod Bliss is delighted to be a sponsor of Wild Care’s Mother’s Day Weekend Tea Party, held at the stunning Crosby Mansion in Brewster on Saturday, May 9th from 4pm to 6pm.

It’s an afternoon designed to celebrate all kinds of mothers - human and wild - while supporting the quiet, essential work of wildlife rehabilitation on Cape Cod.

A Setting That Feels Like Another Era

The Crosby Mansion is one of those rare places that immediately transports you. With sweeping views of Cape Cod Bay, hand-carved wood interiors, and echoes of old-world elegance, it offers a fitting backdrop for an event rooted in both beauty and purpose.

Guests will enjoy docent-led tours of this remarkable Colonial Revival estate, adding a layer of history and texture to the afternoon.

Tea, Thoughtfulness, and a Touch of Whimsy

The tea itself is designed to feel indulgent yet intentional.

Expect a traditional tea service featuring:

  • Vegan finger sandwiches, savories, and sweets

  • Tea from Cape & Islands Tea

  • Jams from Lighthouse Keeper’s Pantry

  • Thoughtfully crafted treats from Herbivore Patisserie

And yes - there’s a bit of fun woven in.

Guests are invited to wear their best tea party hat, with the chance to win a meet-and-greet with Wild Care’s charming turtle ambassador, Garv.

Photography by Lydia Leclair will capture the afternoon, so it’s one of those events where you’ll actually want to dress the part.

The Heart of the Event - Wild Care’s Work

At the center of it all is Wild Care, an organization that plays a vital role in protecting Cape Cod’s wildlife.

Spring and summer mark their busiest season - what they call “baby season.” It’s when orphaned and injured animals arrive in large numbers, each requiring care, feeding, and often round-the-clock attention.

During the event, Executive Director Stephanie Ellis will speak about:

  • Wildlife mothers and their seasonal behaviors

  • The unique presence of Chimney Swifts at the mansion

  • The behind-the-scenes work of caring for vulnerable animals

It’s a rare opportunity to connect more deeply with the natural rhythms of the Cape - not just as a place we enjoy, but as a living ecosystem.

What It Supports

Events like this are not just beautiful - they’re impactful.

Proceeds directly support:

  • Medical care for injured wildlife

  • Food and shelter for orphaned animals

  • The operational needs during peak rescue season

It’s the kind of cause that resonates deeply with what so many of us love about Cape Cod - its balance of refinement and wildness, elegance and authenticity.
